To support the community to write letters to all levels of government with your concerns on the incinerator, we have prepared the following letters as a guide, which you can use as is, edit as you see fit, or write your own.

These will open as google docs, which you can either download or copy and paste the content where you need it.

While the Office of the Coordinator General is the decision making body, and not the Scenic Rim Regional Council, our councillors need to be aware of community sentiment. 

Other councils have made their position clear in rejecting incinerators in their communities, and our council could and should do the same. 

See below for councils who have taken this position.

Incinerators have banned in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), and in the Sydney metropolitan area. 

Councils who have rejected incinerators on behalf of their communities: 

• Ipswich City Council QLD actively opposed Remondis' Swanbank waste to energy incinerator proposal, and the project was officially withdrawn
• Parkes Shire Council NSW formally and unanimously oppose a massive waste incinerator proposed for the Parkes Special Activation Precinct
• Goulburn Mulwaree Council NSW object to Veolia's Tarago energy from waste proposal to protect human and livestock health
• Yass Valley Council NSW maintains a strong, formal and unanimous opposition to Veolia's Tarago energy from waste proposal, and has actively lobbied the NSW government.
• City of Greater Geelong Council VIC continues to object to the large scale Lara waste to energy incinerator, repeatedly writing to the Planning Minister, and formally advocating for the project to be ruled out permanently
• Merri-bek Council VIC firmly rejects incineration and has reaffirmed a strict policy opposing thermal waste to energy technologies
